Porto Flavia, built in 1923-24, is a unique testament to Sardinian mining history. This former mineral port was dug directly into the steep cliffs above the sea and served to efficiently load ores onto ships. The construction consists of two 600-meter-long tunnels and an ingenious mechanical loading solution, which was considered an engineering masterpiece at the time.

The structure is remarkable not only for its technical achievements but also for its breathtaking location. It overlooks the turquoise Masua coast and offers spectacular views of the famous Pan di Zucchero rock. Today, Porto Flavia is a fascinating open-air museum that gives visitors insight into the hard work and ingenuity of the region's miners.
