Overview

Segariu is an Italian municipality located in the heart of the historical subregion of Marmilla, Sardinia. Part of the province of Sud Sardegna and originally within the Medio Campidano district, this town is home to approximately 1,100 residents. It is strategically positioned just a few kilometers from key centers such as Sanluri and Villacidro, surrounded by a landscape that transitions between the Campidano plains and the rolling hills characteristic of the area. As a traditional Sardinian village, Segariu offers an authentic glimpse into the rural lifestyle of the island's interior, characterized by a tranquil atmosphere and a strong connection to its geographic surroundings.

Location

The municipality of Segariu occupies a central position in the southern part of Sardinia. It is located approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Cagliari, the regional capital. Segariu is situated just 7 kilometers east of the town of Sanluri and about 24 kilometers northeast of Villacidro. A significant geographical feature of the area is the Flumini Mannu river, which flows through the territory and has long shaped its landscape. Belonging to the historical region of Marmilla, the town's surroundings are characterized by a hilly structure that stands in contrast to the adjacent Campidano plains.

Nature

The natural environment surrounding Segariu is significantly influenced by the Flumini Mannu river, a vital watercourse in the region. The landscape of Marmilla is distinguished by its gentle hill formations that define the panorama. This geographic layout provides a diverse habitat for local flora and fauna. The proximity to fertile plains and riverbanks makes the Segariu area a characteristic example of the agricultural and natural landscapes found in the southern interior of Sardinia.
