Lage

The municipality of Sant'Antioco is situated in the Sulcis subregion of southwestern Sardinia. Its geographical distinction lies in its insular position, though a bridge connection allows for easy access from the Sardinian mainland. Geographically, the island of Sant'Antioco is Sardinia's second largest and part of a larger archipelago. The distance to the regional capital, Cagliari, is approximately 87 kilometers, establishing the municipality as a significant center within the Sulcis Iglesiente province. While Sant'Antioco occupies the central and southern parts of the 109-square-kilometer island, it borders the territory of Calasetta to the northwest.

Natur

The municipal territory covers most of the 109-square-kilometer island in the Sulcis archipelago. As Italy's fourth largest island after Sicily, Sardinia, and Elba, Sant'Antioco offers a maritime environment shaped by its location off the southwestern coast of Sardinia. The landscape is part of the Sulcis Iglesiente province and is characterized by its strategic Mediterranean position, with connectivity to the main island facilitated by artificial structures such as the connecting bridge.
