Tiscali
Tiscali is an enigmatic Nuragic village, hidden in a sinkhole within Monte Tiscali. A fascinating archaeological testimony to Sardinian history.
Location
In the heart of the Supramonte, on the border between Dorgali and Oliena, Monte Tiscali conceals a unique archaeological gem: the Nuragic village of Tiscali. Hidden within a gigantic collapsed karst cave, known as a sinkhole, this site offers a journey back to the Bronze Age. The remnants of about 40 circular and rectangular huts bear witness to a life that existed here, isolated from the outside world, for centuries.
The village was cleverly built directly into the mountain's depression, making it completely invisible from the outside. This natural camouflage made it an ideal retreat and sanctuary. The special location inside the mountain creates an almost mystical atmosphere where nature and human history merge in an incomparable way.
Tiscali is not only an archaeological highlight but also a place of impressive natural beauty. The hike to get there leads through a wild and pristine landscape, intensifying the village experience. It is a place of silence and contemplation, bearing witness to the resilience and ingenuity of the Nuragic civilization. A visit is a deep immersion into the hidden soul of Sardinia.
