The Nuragic village of Su Nuraxi in Barumini is the most prominent example of these unique Bronze Age defensive complexes, found only in Sardinia. The site, unearthed in the 1950s by archaeologist Giovanni Lilliu, bears witness to a highly developed Nuragic culture.

Since 1997, Su Nuraxi has been a UNESCO World Heritage site and is considered the most important Nuragic complex on the island. Visitors can explore the various areas of the fortress, from the central towers to the surrounding hut remains of the village, immersing themselves in Sardinia's fascinating history.

The complex offers deep insights into the life and social structure of the Sardinian Bronze Age. The massive construction and strategic location highlight the importance of this place as a center and refuge for the population at that time.
