Location
The Stagno di Calich, also known as Laguna del Calich, is an elongated lagoon-pond, oriented parallel to the coast, with a total surface area of approximately 100 hectares. It is one of the most significant natural sites of the Riviera del Corallo and all of Sardinia, forming an integral part of the Porto Conte Natural Park. This wetland serves as a crucial ecological zone and is particularly renowned for its diverse wildlife, especially bird species that inhabit the marshes and lakes. While some of the original reed vegetation is still partly visible, the lagoon is now embraced by lush vegetation including maritime pines, wild olive trees, and Mediterranean scrub, offering shelter and shade. The area also holds historical significance, with the nearby Roman bridge.
