A lagoon beside the Cala Brandinchi coastline — a Natura 2000 site with flamingos, fishing and a shore path.
Location
Stagno di San Teodoro, locally also called Salina Bamba, lies on Sardinia's north-east coast at the edge of San Teodoro village. Under EU directives 92/43/EEC and 79/409/EEC it is a Site of Community Importance and a Special Protection Area. Traditional fishing continues here for gilthead bream, sea bass, sole, mullet, eels, white bream and carpet shells. For visitors it is remarkably convenient: a shore path with observation points starts a few steps from the centre and follows shallow water where greater flamingos often gather in large groups. Behind it lies the La Cinta dune — lagoon and beach are less than ten minutes apart on foot.
