The term "Perda Fitta" (or Sa Perda Fitta) refers to several significant menhirs in Sardinia, bearing witness to the island's prehistoric past. Particularly well-known is the "Sa Sennoredda" menhir in Serramanna, a monumental stone rising in the midst of an agricultural landscape. It is attributed to the Ozieri culture, one of Sardinia's most important prehistoric cultures, and was part of a sacred area.
Another noteworthy find is the menhir in Sant'Anna Arresi in southwestern Sardinia, recently documented using 3D techniques. These standing stones, many of which are made of granite and exhibit conical or rounded shapes, once served cultic purposes, as markers, or for astronomical observations. They are silent guardians of millennia-old secrets, offering insights into the complex belief systems of Sardinia's early inhabitants.
Menhirs like "Perda Fitta" are fascinating testaments to a time when rituals and the veneration of nature were of central importance. Their mere presence in the landscape invites contemplation of humanity's connection to its environment in long-past eras. A visit to these sites is a journey into Sardinia's deep history.
