Location
The Sette Fratelli mountains rise east of Cagliari between Burcei, Sinnai and Castiadas, named after the seven granite summits visible from the coast. The area belongs to the Settefratelli state forest and is part of the Natura 2000 network. It is considered the main refuge of the Sardinian deer (Cervus elaphus corsicanus), successfully rebuilt here after a severe decline. Holm and cork oak woods, strawberry tree and tree heath cover the slopes; waymarked paths lead to Punta Sa Ceraxa (1,016 m) and to old charcoal-burning sites. Most routes start from the Campu Omu visitor centre and the SS125 road.
