Location
The Is Zuddas caves lie in south-western Sardinia in the municipality of Santadi, six kilometres from the village in the Sulcis region. The guided route crosses several chambers, including the Sala del Teatro and the Sala delle Eccentriche, where fine aragonite crystals grow from walls and ceilings seemingly against gravity — a phenomenon this pronounced in only a handful of European caves. There are also massive columns, organ-pipe formations and calcite draperies. The visit takes about an hour on paved, lit walkways, with an internal temperature of around 16 °C all year.
Highlights
- Rare aragonite helictites

- Constant 16 °C inside
