Location
The archaeological complex of Pidighi, located near Solarussa, is a significant site of Nuragic culture in Sardinia. It includes two nuraghi, with Nuraghe Pidighi particularly distinguished by a central mastio (fortified tower) and a secondary tower enclosing a courtyard. Excavations conducted from 1994 to 2008 under the direction of Alessandro Usai have provided fascinating insights into the structure and use of these prehistoric settlements.
In addition to the nuraghi, there are remnants of an extensive Nuragic village, once inhabited by the region's people. Another highlight is the Nuragic sacred spring, which served as a sacred site and bears witness to the spiritual practices of the Bronze Age society. The spring emphasizes the importance of water for the Nuragic people and offers a deep insight into their cultural and religious life.
