Location
The Necropolis of Moseddu, also known as the Domus de Janas of Museddu, is a fascinating prehistoric burial ground located in the Meilogu region, near Cheremule. Situated on the slopes of the ancient volcano Monte Cuccuruddu, this site offers a deep insight into the burial practices of the Sardinian Neolithic period.
This area is part of the larger "Parco dei Petroglifi" and includes 18 hypogea carved into the rock. These rock-cut chamber tombs vary in their layout from simple single-chamber to more complex multi-chamber structures, showcasing the diversity of architectural skills of that era.
Of particular note is the "Tomba della Clessidra" (Hourglass Tomb), which is often considered the most significant structure within the necropolis. Although some of the hypogea have suffered damage over the centuries, they still bear witness to the rich history and cultural traditions of the early Sardinian inhabitants.
