In the heart of the Ogliastra region lies the municipality of Urzulei, situated at an altitude of 511 meters above sea level. The village is home to approximately 1,040 inhabitants and belongs to the province of Nuoro. Its strategic location in the northeastern part of Sardinia combines the rugged mountain scenery of the hinterland with proximity to the coast, which is only about ten kilometers away. Urzulei is located at an altitude of 511 meters in the historical region of Ogliastra. Geographically, the municipality is assigned to the province of Nuoro. The distance to the important port town of Tortolì is approximately 22.5 to 25 kilometers in a southeasterly direction. The Tyrrhenian Sea can be reached at a distance of about ten kilometers to the east from the town boundaries. For travelers from the south, the municipality is about 100 kilometers from Cagliari. The municipal area is characterized by its integration into the extensive Gennargentu mountains, which significantly shape the landscape of the entire region.

The municipality is an integral part of the National Park of the Gulf of Orosei and Gennargentu. This protected area is known for its wild, untouched nature and the distinctive topography of Ogliastra. Although the village is located at over 500 meters altitude, the Tyrrhenian Sea is only about ten kilometers away, resulting in a special microclimate and varied flora. The surrounding mountains provide habitats for numerous animal species and are characterized by the typical rock formations of central Sardinia.
