Solarussa

Solarussa is a Sardinian municipality located in the province of Oristano, forming part of the fertile Campidano plain. With a population of just over 2,200 inhabitants, the municipal area covers approximately 32 square kilometres. The town benefits from a strategic location in the central-western part of the island, not far from the provincial capital of Oristano. The surroundings are characterized by agricultural traditions historically linked to the course of the Tirso River. Solarussa serves as a quiet base for exploring the Oristano region and the northwestern connections towards Cagliari.

The municipality is situated in the Campidano of Oristano, a wide plain in western Sardinia. The village is located approximately nine to fourteen kilometres northeast of Oristano and lies directly along the longest river on the island, the Tirso. Regarding regional connectivity, Solarussa is positioned about 115 kilometres northwest of the island's capital, Cagliari. The topographical setting across an area of 31.9 square kilometres allows for easy access to the western coastal areas and the infrastructural hubs of the Oristano province.

The nature surrounding Solarussa is significantly shaped by the Tirso River, which flows close to the town. The landscape is typical of the Campidano plain, characterized by vast expanses and intensive agricultural use.
