Setzu

Setzu is a small Italian municipality in the province of Sud Sardegna with around 130 inhabitants. The village is located in the historical sub-region of Marmilla and is characterized by its quiet, rural atmosphere. As part of the Comunità Montana della Giara, the municipality is closely linked to the unique landscape of the Sardinian hinterland. The settlement is defined by traditional Campidano agricultural architecture, with historical farmhouses shaping the townscape. A characteristic feature of these buildings is the imposing portal leading into an interior courtyard. The dwelling itself is located opposite the entrance and usually features a 'lolla,' a typical arcade or covered gallery serving both functional and social purposes. This construction style reflects historical rural life, where living and agricultural work were closely intertwined.

The culinary tradition of Setzu is based on its long history as an agricultural center. Agriculture was historically the main source of livelihood for the residents.
