Overview

Sennori is a prominent municipality in the Metropolitan City of Sassari, located in northwestern Sardinia. The town is home to around 6,700 residents and covers an area of approximately 31.4 square kilometers. Situated within the historical region of Romangia, the settlement is characterized by its strategic proximity to the Gulf of Asinara, which lies just five kilometers to the north. As an integral part of the North Sardinia Metropolitan Network, Sennori blends a compact urban layout with a deep-seated agricultural tradition. Located about 180 kilometers from the Sardinian capital of Cagliari, the municipality serves as a hub for high-quality regional produce, earning national recognition in specialized urban associations.

Location

Sennori enjoys a privileged geographical position in the hinterland of Sassari, located about 7 to 8 kilometers to the north-northeast. The municipality is situated in the historical region of Romangia and benefits from its proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Only five kilometers separate the town center from the shores of the Gulf of Asinara. Spanning a total area of 31.4 square kilometers, the village is located in a region historically shaped by its closeness to northern urban centers and its connection to coastal areas.

Culture

Sennori is nationally recognized for its role in agricultural culture. Since 1987, the municipality has been a member of the National Association of Wine Cities (Associazione nazionale città del vino), holding the record as the first town in Sardinia to receive this title. Furthermore, Sennori is part of the National Association of Oil Cities (Associazione nazionale città dell'olio). These affiliations underscore the town's cultural identity as a significant center for wine and olive oil production, elements that continue to define the municipality's economic and cultural self-image in Romangia.

Cuisine

The culinary specialization of Sennori focuses primarily on viticulture and the production of edible oil. These two pillars of local agriculture are institutionally anchored through membership in respective national associations. Wine production has taken a pioneering role on the island, as Sennori was the first municipality in Sardinia to be officially named a City of Wine. Olive oil represents the second essential gastronomic pillar, showcasing the quality of regional products from the Romangia area.
