Pattada

Pattada is a significant municipality in northeastern Sardinia, belonging to the Metropolitan City of Sassari. The town is situated in the historical region of Monteacuto, occupying an elevated position near Monte Lerno. With a population of approximately 2,800 inhabitants, the community serves as an important center within the Logudoro area. It is a member of the Union of Logudoro Municipalities along with surrounding towns such as Ozieri and Mores. Its location is defined by its proximity to the border of the Province of Nuoro, blending the scenic appeal of the highlands with the cultural depth of central Sardinia. Throughout the region, the village is renowned for its deeply rooted artisanal skills and its geographical importance between Sassari and the southern interior.

Historically, Pattada belongs to the ancient territory of Logudoro and is an essential part of the Monteacuto subregion. The municipality is located approximately 50 to 65 kilometers southeast of Sassari and about 150 kilometers north of Cagliari. Geographically, the town is situated on the Monte Lerno mountain range and overlooks the lake of the same name, Lago Lerno. The immediate proximity to the Province of Nuoro makes Pattada a border crossing point between the Metropolitan City of Sassari and the island's center.

The nature surrounding Pattada is significantly characterized by the Monte Lerno mountain massif. This elevation offers expansive views over the surrounding Logudoro area. A central element of the landscape is also Lago Lerno, a body of water that borders the municipal territory and complements the mountainous backdrop of the Monteacuto region.

Culturally, Pattada is world-famous for a specific craft: the production of folding knives. These exclusive knives, known as the 'resolza pattadesa,' are the symbol of the town and bear witness to a long tradition of metalworking and design that is valued far beyond the borders of Sardinia.

The town's most important tradition is the art of blacksmithing, particularly the crafting of the resolza. This artisanal tradition is inextricably linked to Pattada's identity and is preserved by local masters. Furthermore, through its membership in the Union of Logudoro Municipalities, the community maintains close cultural ties with neighboring towns in Monteacuto.
