Nuoro

Nuoro is a town and comune (municipality) in central-eastern Sardinia in Italy, situated on the slopes of Mount Ortobene. It is the capital and largest city of the province of Nuoro. With a population of 32,718, it is the sixth-largest municipality in Sardinia. Its frazione (borough) of Lollove is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia.

The modern administrative importance of Nuoro was established in the 20th century, when the town was designated as the capital of the province of the same name in central-eastern Sardinia in 1927. Since then, the municipality has developed into the primary administrative center of the region.
