Overview

Bidonì is a small Italian municipality in western Sardinia, part of the Province of Oristano. With a very small population of approximately 111 to 117 inhabitants, the village is one of the smallest settlements on the island. Geographically, the village is embedded in the historical region of Barigadu and is characterized by its very limited land area. Along with municipalities such as Setzu or Modolo, Bidonì is one of the smallest communes in Sardinia in terms of square kilometers. Its quiet inland location makes it an authentic destination for travelers seeking traditional Sardinia away from the major urban centers. The distance to the provincial capital Oristano is about 37 to 40 kilometers to the northeast, while the island's capital Cagliari is located approximately 100 kilometers to the south.

Location

The municipality of Bidonì is situated in a strategic position in the central-western part of Sardinia. It belongs to the Province of Oristano and is part of the historical region of Barigadu. The surrounding area is defined by its proximity to the provincial capital Oristano, located about 37 to 40 kilometers to the southwest. Additionally, the village is positioned approximately 100 kilometers north of Cagliari. A distinctive feature is the small territorial size of the location; along with municipalities like Nureci, Las Plassas, and Setzu, Bidonì ranks among the smallest communes by surface area on the entire island. This compactness shapes the village life and the settlement structure within this traditional Sardinian region.
