Overview

Bauladu is a small municipality in western Sardinia, belonging to the Province of Oristano. With a population of just over 600 inhabitants, the village represents authentic life in the Campidano di Oristano region. The town is characterized by its strategic location, nestled at the foot of a hill of volcanic origin. As part of the autonomous region of Sardinia, Bauladu offers a peaceful atmosphere away from the main tourist crowds, while remaining well-connected due to its proximity to the provincial capital, Oristano. The settlement is a characteristic example of the island's smaller municipalities that have preserved their identity over generations.

Location

Geographically, Bauladu is located approximately 14 to 15 kilometers north-northeast of Oristano. The municipality is situated in the Campidano di Oristano plain, a significant region for agriculture. The distance to the island's capital, Cagliari, to the south, is about 100 kilometers. A prominent feature of the immediate surroundings is the hill of volcanic origin, at the base of which the village was built. This topographical position shapes the landscape and the layout of the settlement in the west of the Mediterranean island.

Nature

The natural environment of Bauladu is characterized by the volcanic origin of the adjacent hill. This geological feature distinguishes the local landscape from the flatter parts of the Campidano. The region in western Sardinia offers flora and fauna typical of the hilly outskirts of the Province of Oristano, with volcanic soils often providing a specific foundation for the local vegetation.
