As part of the Gallura region, it is considered one of the most famous coastal strips of the Mediterranean island, captivating visitors with its distinctive water color and geographical location between two major port towns.

The approximately 20-kilometer-long coastal section of the Costa Smeralda in northeastern Sardinia represents one of the island's most distinctive geographical regions. Geographically, the area is bordered by the municipality of Palau to the north and the port city of Olbia to the south.
