Location
The Scala di San Giorgio is a gap through the limestone reefs of the Ogliastra, crossed in tight bends by the old road between Osini and Ulassai. Vertical towers up to 50 metres high – part of the tacchi, Jurassic reef limestone resting on older schist – stand close together. The area is protected as a regional natural monument and is a classic destination for geology enthusiasts and climbers; raptors nest on the walls.
