Location
Neptune's Grotto is a karst cave about 24 km from Alghero, on the north-west flank of the Capo Caccia headland within the protected area of north-west Sardinia. Inside lies a brackish lake ringed by stalactite columns, flowstone pools and large chambers; the route is equipped and visited with a guide. There are two ways in: the Escala del Cabirol staircase cut into the cliff, with 654 steps, or the boat service from Alghero harbour, which runs in calm seas.
