Area Archeologica di Iloi

In the heart of Sardinia, on a plateau near Sedilo, lies the impressive archaeological park of Iloi. This site bears witness to the island's rich history, starting from the Neolithic period and extending into the Middle Ages. The complex is centered around a nuraghe, surrounded by the remains of an extensive Bronze Age village, offering a fascinating insight into the architecture and lifestyle of the Nuragic culture.

Particularly noteworthy are the two well-preserved Giants' Tombs, impressive testimonies to the burial rituals of this ancient civilization. A unique feature is also a rock-cut hypogeum necropolis carved into a large limestone rock, whose origins date back to the fourth and third millennia BC. These rock chambers served as burial sites for centuries, demonstrating the long religious use of the location.

The complex not only offers deep insights for history enthusiasts but also provides a charming setting for nature lovers. Its hilltop location affords panoramic views over the former valley of the River Tirso.
