Ussassai

Ussassai is a small municipality in the Sardinian region of Barbagia di Seùlo, located within the province of Nuoro. With slightly more than 400 inhabitants, it is the smallest community in its area, covering an area of approximately 47 square kilometres. The village sits at an altitude of 710 metres above sea level, distinguished by its quiet location in the heart of the island. Regional connectivity is primarily maintained by the state road 198. Ussassai offers visitors an authentic glimpse into the traditional life of the Sardinian hinterland, far removed from the major tourist hubs.

Geographically, Ussassai occupies a strategic position between the inland areas and the eastern coast. The municipality is situated approximately 25 to 26 kilometres west-southwest of Tortolì and about 70 kilometres northeast of the regional capital, Cagliari. The village is accessible via the Strada statale 198, which serves as a vital transport link between Seui and Lanusei. With a total area of 47.3 square kilometres, it is the smallest territorial unit within the Barbagia di Seùlo.
