Carloforte

Carloforte is the only settlement on the island of San Pietro, located approximately seven to ten kilometres off the southwestern coast of Sardinia. The municipality, home to about 5,800 residents, belongs to the province of Sulcis Iglesiente and encompasses the entire island of San Pietro along with smaller islets of the Sulcis archipelago. As a member of the 'I Borghi più belli d'Italia' association, the town is characterised by its dual identity as a fishing hub and a coastal resort. The island's geography has preserved a distinct cultural character that sets Carloforte apart from other Sardinian towns. Historically, the community has maintained strong ties to Genoa, a connection still visible in its local architecture and atmosphere.
