Protonuraghe Foxi (Remains)

Protonuraghe Foxi (Remains) offers an insight into the early Nuragic culture of Sardinia. As a "Protonuraghe," it represents one of the oldest forms of these unique megalithic structures, built in Sardinia between 1900 and 730 BC. This archaeological site is less known than the large Nuragic complexes, but precisely for this reason, it is fascinating for visitors interested in the origins of Nuragic architecture.

The remains of this protonuraghe are located near Nuraghe Mindeddu and not far from Sa Marina beach. This allows for an interesting combination of cultural and natural experiences. Although only remains are preserved, the site allows one to trace the structure and location of one of the earliest buildings of the Nuragic age. It is a testament to the complex prehistoric civilization that shaped Sardinia and still poses mysteries today.

A visit to Protonuraghe Foxi is a journey into the past and a complement to better-known nuraghes, such as Su Nuraxi near Barumini. It illustrates the development of these structures and the widespread diffusion of Nuragic culture across the entire island, which produced over 7000 of these structures.
