Nuraghe Trochesia

Nuraghe Trochesia is an outstanding example of Sardinia's unique Nuragic architecture, which flourished from approximately 1700 to 700 BC. These prehistoric stone structures, mostly in the shape of a truncated cone, are characteristic of the island and bear witness to a highly developed civilization.

Unlike many other cultures of this period, the Nuragic people left no written records, which often leaves the exact function and meaning of their structures in the dark. However, archaeological findings suggest that nuraghi served defensive, ceremonial, and social purposes. They were not just simple towers, but often complex settlement centers, surrounded by hut remains.

A visit to Nuraghe Trochesia allows one to immerse themselves in this fascinating period and admire the craftsmanship of the builders of that time. The massive construction without mortar, where large stone blocks were skillfully stacked on top of each other, is still impressive today and tells stories of a long-past culture whose secrets have not yet been fully uncovered. It is a place of contemplation and wonder at human creativity.
