Casa di Eleonora d'Arborea

Piazza Eleonora d'Arborea in Oristano is not only a central meeting point but also a place of great historical significance for Sardinia. At the heart of the square stands the impressive statue of Eleonora d'Arborea, the judge and ruler of the Judicate of Arborea in the 14th century, considered one of the most significant figures in Sardinian history. She is renowned for the 'Carta de Logu', one of the first written legal codes in Europe.

Although the statue itself is a 19th-century artwork, it symbolizes Eleonora's spirit and struggle for Sardinian independence and justice. The square is surrounded by elegant architecture and invites visitors to enjoy the ambiance of Oristano. It serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the old town's alleys and attractions. Markets are also occasionally held here.
