At 1,259 metres, Monte Rasu is the highest point of the Goceano range between Bono and Bottidda. Its slopes carry the Monte Pisanu state forest, planted from the late 19th century onwards and now holding impressive stands of yew, holly, black pine and cedar, including some of Sardinia's largest yew trees. Old forestry houses, springs and viewpoints over the Gennargentu and the Chilivani plain mark the mountain; mouflon and raptors are regularly seen.
